The Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Association of Urologists (TAPASU) was established as the first state-level urology association in India. Its primary goal was to create a professional network of urologists in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, facilitating the exchange of scientific knowledge and technical expertise.
TAPASU has grown to represent over 700 urologists and affiliated researchers. Over the years, it has become a key platform for continuous education in the field of urology, offering workshops, conferences, and CMEs. The association also actively promotes research and excellence in clinical practice by awarding scholarships and recognizing outstanding contributions from members.
TAPASU's history reflects its commitment to advancing urological care, not just within Tamil Nadu and Puducherry but also through collaboration with other associations like the Association of Southern Urologists and the Indian Medical Association (IMA). The annual TAPASUCON conference has been a hallmark event, promoting professional development and the sharing of innovative practices.
